Polar releases Vantage V and M Multi-sport Watches

  • Ron

Polar has announced two new multi-sport watches today – The Vantage V and the Vantage M.

The Polar Vantage V is the company’s most advanced multisport watch and integrates cutting edge sport technologies into a sleek, durable design and offers extremely effective coach and athlete interaction.

Polar Vantage V introduces Polar’s Precision Prime™ wrist-based fusion heart rate technology, as well as Polar’s new wrist-based running power. Developed for athletes and coaches who demand the highest level of sport performance, Polar Vantage V comes equipped with exclusive Smart Coaching features such as Training Load Pro and Recovery Pro, as well as a new Polar Coach interface. The waterproof, GPS-enabled watch features an always-on color touch screen display, offers the most accurate data across a more than 130 sport profiles and provides an ultra-long battery life with up to 40 hours of continuous training.

Polar Precision Prime™

Polar Vantage V delivers a new level of heart rate accuracy and reliability via Polar Precision Prime, Polar’s proprietary wrist-based heart rate technology. Polar’s unique sensor fusion technology and customized smart algorithm deliver a new standard for wrist-based accuracy.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Polar Precision Prime, which is the only heart rate technology that integrates three sensor types to deliver leading wrist-based heart rate,” says Sanna Merio, Segment Manager at Polar. “Precision Prime uses nine optical channels that deploy two colors and wavelengths of light to extract data from different layers in the skin. In addition to the 3D accelerometer, we’ve also incorporated new electrode sensors that measure sensor-skin contact. These advancements mean a faster response time, more sensitivity for readings, and much higher accuracy and reliability for wrist-based heart rate.”

Running Power

Polar Vantage V also introduces the world’s first running power from the wrist. Running power lets athletes train with a level of convenience and effectiveness that hasn’t been possible without a separate sensor before Polar Vantage V. Polar’s running power unifies several running metrics into one, easy-to-understand number that represents the power that the runner produces during running. Wrist-based running power also offers the added benefit of no need for external sensors. As the trusted brand for heart rate accuracy, Polar now provides both metrics to enable athletes to train smarter and more effectively, so they can reach performance goals. Training Load Pro™ and Recovery Pro™

Leveraging years of experience and working with some of the most prestigious sports teams and endurance athletes around the globe, Polar has developed advanced Smart Coaching metrics for athletes in Polar Vantage V: Training Load Pro and Recovery Pro. For the first time in any consumer fitness product, Polar is bringing together muscular load, perceived load and cardiovascular load into one, holistic view of training load. The new features monitor training load from each session, measure balance between strain and tolerance in the long-term, and help athletes recognize personal limits by informing them when they’re overtraining, undertraining or are right on track.

For added measure, Recovery Pro, exclusive to Polar Vantage V, provides a wholistic understanding of the balance between training and recovery by measuring daily and long-term recovery. Together Training Load Pro and Recovery Pro offer personalized training guidance and are exceptional tools to ensure athletes are improving personal performance while avoiding injury. Accuracy with Polar Precision Prime™

Polar Precision Prime, Polar’s proprietary cutting-edge optical heart rate technology, uses sensor fusion to set a new benchmark for wrist-based accuracy across multiple sports and varying degrees of movement. While easy to capture HR at rest, movement increases the difficulty and unreliability. Polar Precision Prime overcomes motion artifacts to offer the best possible optical HR performance, and features reliable wear detection to identify when sensors have optimal skin contact for the best measurement. Precision Prime is the only heart rate technology that utilizes three methods to provide accurate heart rate: nine optical channels using several colors and wavelengths of light, 3D acceleration and an electrical sensor that measures the quality of sensor-skin contact.

Training Load Pro™

Polar introduces Training Load Pro with Polar Vantage M, a new Smart Coaching feature that guide athletes to reach the ideal amount of training to perform at their very best. The new feature monitors training load from each training session and helps athletes recognize personal limits by informing them when they’re overtraining, undertraining or training just right. Training Load Pro takes into account Cardio Load, or how much stress is placed on the cardiovascular system. When paired with a power sensor, the feature also tracks Muscle Load to indicate how much the muscles were stressed during a training session. Coupled with Perceived Load, or the athlete’s perception of the training session, Vantage M offers an exceptional tool to ensure athletes are improving personal performance while preventing injury.
