Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) has won stage 14 of the 2026 Giro d’Italia, the 133 km long Aosta-Pila (Gressan), ahead of Felix Gall (Decathlon CMA CGM Team) and Jai Hindley (Red Bull – Bora – Hansgrohe).
Vingegaard waited for the Valle d’Aosta to outclass his rivals and take over from Afonso Eulalio in the Maglia Rosa. His teammates set the pace all day and he rode away 4.6km before the finishing line in Pila. Felix Gall crossed the line 49” later but the runner up on GC is now Eulalio with a deficit of 2’26” while Gall is 2’50” adrift.
Speaking in the press conference, Vingegaard said: “It’s definitely new to me to be in the Maglia Rosa. It’s something special in cycling and something I’m really happy with. I’ve been dreaming of having a Maglia Rosa like many young cyclists. I really wanted it. I’m proud of it, especially after what we did today as a team. The plan was exactly how we executed it. It was impressive how my teammates rode today. They were super motivated. The heat made it a hard race in the last. I was also close to my limit. Davide Piganzoli made a gap onto almost all of my competitors. His effort was similar to Wout van Aert’s some years ago. There are still three hard mountain stages in the third week. Anyone can have a bad day. We need to keep fighting for this beautiful jersey. It’s my dream to take it to Rome”.
Jonas Vingegaard is the new Maglia Rosa as he leads the General Classification.
